Hotel Transylvania Party

I am a member of a site called Crowdtap (to get more info go here http://bit.ly/My2TEK).  It is a site where you log on to collaborate with your favorite brands and earn giftcards, discounts and charitable donations by answering polls, participating in discussions, sampling products and throwing sponsered brand parties.  I was lucky enough to be chosen to host a Hotel Transylvania Party. 

 

I invited my brother and sisters and their kids to our Hotel Transylvania Party.  I had a lot of fun activities planned for all of the kids and family.

 

We started off the night with some yummy dinner and then the festivities started.  This was a perfect time to host a party to kick off the beginning of the Halloween season.

 

We started off by coloring some Hotel Transylvania coloring pages that we would use for some games for later.

 

After the kids were done coloring their pages we had them decorate some pumpkins.  They each got to color with marker some scary (or not so scary) pumpkins.  The best pumpkin was my niece Brenna's pumpkin.  She drew a pumpkin that had a witch, a vampire and a mummy all on a small pumpkin.  She was very talented.

 



 

 

 After the pumpkin decorating we were ready for some dessert.  Sticking with our Hotel Transylvania theme we wanted to make some monster cupcakes.  The kids really got into this.  Even my 1 year old nephew Sam had a good time (well he really liked the eating of the cupcake part).  They came up with some pretty good monsters.

After we ate our cupcakes we decided to start playing some Hotel Transylvania Games.  The first game we played was "Last Man Standing."  We hung up the pictures the kids had colored.  They had a picture of all the characters on Hotel Transylvania such as Mavis, Dracula, etc. and I had the names of the pictures in a bowl.  The kids would stand by any picture they would want to.  I would pull a name out of the bowl.  If they were standing by that picture they were out.  Then they could go stand by a different picture if they want or stay at the same one and I would draw another name.  We would keep going and going until the last man was standing and they were the winner.

 



 

When we got to the last man standing they got a prize.  I was happy to find the perfect prize to give away.  I found a little prize pack that had a little mini coloring book with crayons and stickers that was Hotel Transylvania.  Once one kid had won the game we started over until everyone got a chance to win.

 

 

The last game that we played was like musical chairs.  We found the PERFECT Hotel Transylvania song that we played.  It was the song of Carly Rae Jeppsen's "Call Me Maybe" only it was a play on the song and it was "Call Me Mavy" (based on the character Mavis).  I would play the song and when I stopped the music the kids had to stand by the picture when the music stopped.  When I called out the picture if they were standing by it they got a prize (a ghost sucker).  We kept going and going until everyone got quite a stash of ghost suckers.  It was so fun because the kids just kept going on and on dancing and singing "Call me Mavy."  Even two weeks later after the party we still sing the song "Call me Mavy."  We love the character Mavis.

 

 

It turned out to be a great party and the kids (and adults) had a ton of fun.  Coloring, painting, eating, decorating, playing games, dancing, singing, winning prizes, learning all the names of the characters of the movie. 

 

One of our highlights for Hotel Transylvania was when I was out and about with just my husband and kids and we were at the movie theater for Hotel Transylanvia and we ran into a professional basketball for the Utah Jazz, Center Enes Kanton.  It is not every day when you are out and about and get a photo opportunity like that.  It was amazing.

 

 

Getting to host a party like Hotel Transylvania was such a fun opportunity.  My kids and nieces and nephews had such a fun time.  We had a ball.  We got to see an awesome movie and meet a real celebrity because of it.

Weddings and checkups

Chelton's brother Taylor got married at the end of May in the Bountiful Temple.  It was a beautiful (and rainy) day and we gained an awesome sister-in-law Ruth.  Here are a few photos of the day.

The kids recently got their checkups...I wait and get them all together at once (instead of on their birthdays and instead take them all together).  The conclusion:  My kids are small small and small. 

Kylie who is 4 is in the ZERO percent for weight at 27.4 pounds and 16% for height at 39.5 inches.  Connor who is 7 was 2% for weight at 42 pounds and 13% for height at 47 inches. 

Garrett who is 10 was 3% for weight at 54 pounds and 36% for height at 54 inches. 

So basically I have a 0, 2 and 3%.  I promise I do feed my children.  In fact I can't get the boys to stop eating lately.  The doctor told Connor he was built for speed (which means he will never be the star of the basketball team and that he is a shorty mcshorty).  Connor loved the news that he was built for speed and he had to tell him how fast he was.  He didn't like the fact that he had to get a shot however, but he was really brave about it.  The kids were super goofy in the doctor's office and the doctor told me he loved how the kids interacted with each other.  Oh...yes...if he could only see how they interacted when they fought too :)  J/k...they usually do interact and goof off with each other pretty well.  My three small goof balls!!!  Can't believe in two days they will all be going back to school.

July--busy busy

July was a very fun and busy month for us. We had a fun 4th of July. All three kids got to be in the parade here in Fillmore. Kylie was on the float for Dancerz Edge and Garrett and Connor were on our ward float. They loved throwing candy to all their friends. We spent a few minutes at the park afterwards and then took the kids swimming. The best part about Fillmore 4th of July is the fireworks that night. They have a wonderful firework show that goes on straight for almost 20 minutes. It was awesome. We did sit a little close this year and got a few ashes in our eyes but the show was spectacular.

The next weekend we had my family come down for a weekend. The kids LOVED it. They got to spend the whole weekend playing with their cousins. We had a fun weekend of hanging out and playing games. The first night my sister Mandee came down with my mom and dad and we took the kids to the pool. They loved that. My dad slept on the tramp the first night with Connor and my nephew Ethan. That was probably a fun night for them. We had people stuffed all over the place but it was sure a fun time. My brother brought his bouncy waterslide and that was fun (and cold) for the kids. We had kind of cooler temperatures that weekend (which was nice) but made it kind of cold to get wet. There is a place my kids like to walk to get shaved ice and we made probably four or five trips during their stay. Hope we make this a yearly event. It is nice to have people to come and visit.

At the end of the month I got to take Kylie to the American Idol concert. We loved watching it this year because we were both major Colton Dixon fans. She LOVES him!!! We were Phillip Phillips fans too. She loved going to the concert with me. We made a "Colton's #1 Fan" shirt for her. We got a picture of Colton from a gal at the place we had dinner and she held it up during the whole concert and she told me "He isn't even going to see it Mom" (we were pretty far away). She thought for some reason he would look up and see her holding the picture. It was pretty cute. The lady who gave her the picture told us if you go behind the venue after they come out and sign for autographs and pictures so we did just that. My brother and his wife Alyssa came with us so we were able to get pictures with Colton, Phillip and Skylar. Colton talked to us a bit and saw Kylie's shirt and told her how cute it was. After he got the picture with her everybody "Awwwwed" and he said "I know..it's cute right?" She was in heaven. He was so super nice. Now she kisses the picture all the time and we tease her that he is her boyfriend. She loves to listen to his music. It is tooo cute. She is 4 years old and has her first "crush."

Also at the end of May my brother in law got married and we gained a new sister-in-law Ruth. It was a beautiful wedding and we got a few new family pics out of it. I will put them in another post. August came really fast and my kids will be starting school in less than a week. Garrett moves up to middle school and Connor will be starting 2nd grade and Kylie will be going to preschool (at the elementary). Crazy how time flies by. We are slowly counting down time until our vacation in February (six more months)!!!! Can't wait. Just have to take it one month at a time.

Turning 10

Can't believe my baby boy turned 10. We actually celebrated his birthday it seems like all month. We started out by celebrating with Spendlove's with his cousin Miranda when we all got together over Memorial Day at the cemetary. What is a get together without the cousins trying to beat up uncle Khayden? While we were up visiting that weekend we gave Garrett our present to him...a new bike. He was so excited he had to start riding it immediately at Grandma's house. On his real birthday since we had done cake twice he decided he wanted to do rootbeer beer floats so he blew out a candle in his rootbeer float. We then watched a movie on his birthday. For his birthday this year instead of a party Garrett decided to go to Lagoon with his family. He had never been to Lagoon and he took Connor with him. Kylie is scared of everything so we left her with Grandma. They loved this ride the scrambler and went on it like four or five times. They were actually pretty brave and went on most of the rides in lagoon. They had seen this tube ride on youtube before we went and were really excited to go on it. They wanted to go on it over and over and of course getting me more and more wet. Connor couldn't go on it by himself so he had to take me with him on it so I just kept getting wet. I think Garrett had an awesome birthday. He is such a great kid and we are priveleged to have him as our son. He really is getting to be that point in his life where he is a help to us. He has started to mow the lawn this year. We love that :) He loves going to scouts and excels at school. He has a lot of friends and is a very happy outgoing kid. He plays well (most of the time) with his brother and when you get the two of them in the room talking about Pokemon I swear they are speaking a different language. He really is such a great boy and I couldn't ask for a better kid!!!
